Hail The Captain!

without comments

The English Premier League starts today, and it’s an emphatic start to the season.

Having to play Everton in their own field, and going against all odds for this season, with all the rumours and craps especially about Manchester Shitty going to topple Arsenal this season, it was difficult to see the light of the day. But deep inside i know we are going to win this, comfortably.

What a way to win a game, what more, winning confidently comfortably in the first game of the season!

EVERTON 1 – 6 ARSENAL

Many aspects being unfolded coming to this game, firstly the new 4-3-3 formation, secondly the defensive department of Arsenal as a whole, thirdly the captain, fourthly the debut of Thomas Vermaelen, and lastly the comeback of Eduardo.

I am happy! :)

1) 4-3-3 Formation

It worked well! It was a bit worry of how Denilson and Bendtner going to be in this game, but after 10-15 minutes, it became clear that Bendtner playing the attacking role on the right side which he did amazingly good comparing with his own standard last season, and Denilson is being a good distributor much like last season.

Fabregas, my favourite player of course, as usual with his sharp pinpoint pass, and positioned a bit deeper, a position which he likes anyway, playing more of a holding midfield + usual long passes.

Arsenal were playing much to the fluidity, and approach almost similar to the 2003/2004 Invincibles Season, which i have been waiting for all these years, furthermore, it is added by the complex 1 touch passing that were practiced for the last few season.

2) Defensive Department

2nd Half of Last season attacking was already superb, and the only weak-link is the defensive department, but not this season!

The new boy Thomas Vermaelen did very well, only 6 ft height, people already criticize him even before he was bought by AW (Arsene Wenger). But he played brilliantly, smart defensive moves, and smart play by him.

Sagna and Clichy are reliable as ever.

My oh My, Gallas was very good. I am very happy.

3) Hail The Captain: Cesc Fabregas.

What a man! Becoming a first-team regular at 17 years old, taking Arsenal to Final Champions League 2006 at 19 years old, Appointed as Arsenal Captain & Winning the prestigious EURO 2008 at 21 years old & at 22 years old begin the start of the 2009/2010 season with a Bang!

2 Assists (as he usually does) & 2 Goals against an Full Squad Everton side at Goodison Park at the start of the season. The run from below the half-line till just outside the box and unleashing the shot was just amazing! Maybe i’m just overenthusiastically exaggerating it but it’s just that!

4) Debut of Thomas Vermaelen

Playing well, good tackles, good slides, good block, good interception, good clearance, good anticipation. He is a great buy at 10mil, maybe too early to say that, but im confident enough!

As a bonus for him, he scores at debut with a lovely powerful unmarked free-header.

5) I’m Back!, says Eduardo.

He is back and he is sharp, and he scores a goal. It looks as if he never had that fracture of tibia & fibula before. Welcome back Eduardo, we miss you so much!

Arsenal’s like-new signing scores double in his ‘debut’.

The No. 9 Eduardo Da Silva! The No. 9 Eduardo Da Silva!

Eduardo.

A name on the back of the Arsenal shirt, which is sorely missed by the Arsenal fans for almost one year. He returned to start in Le’ Grove after much hype since his return to play against the reserves team. His comeback started few days before where he assist the winning goal for Croatia in 2-1 victory over Romania in International friendly.

What a show. What a show…. His return to the starting line-up light up the Arsenal side lacking creativity in this season, especially after losing captain cesc to injury. Eduardo bring elegance to the team, as his movement and his pass at the final-third of the field was extravagance, something no one ever did except robin van persie.

In the build up to this game, i was chatting with Khalifah Alam Maya, and talk about the prediction for this game. He was giving 2 – 0 win, but i couldn’t say my own opinion, only that i am sure of, is that we got a clean sheet. Anyway, i did give my scoreline as 1-0. I’m hoping it was not going to be a “boring boring Arsenal”.

Early in the match, the chemistry between eduardo and bendtner is not very fluid, and bendtner, the ‘budak nakal’ of arsenal, made a few errors and does not time his position well in relation to the superb Eduardo. What really differentiate eduardo and bendtner is Eduardo has superb off the ball movement and great positioning sense. Eduardo can lead the attack wonderfully and he is the striker we badly need to possibly win any silverware this season.

The result was, 4-0. Eduardo ‘debut’ goal was out of this world! with such a difficult cross from vela, he timed his run and position himself to attack the ball, and head it targeting the near post to the right of the keeper. What a comeback goal. Eduardo straightaway kneel down at the side of the pitch and thankful to god (i think) for that wonderful goal. Come on you Eduardo!

A scintillating performance by the whole team, notable improvement from Denilson and Alexandre Song, superb play by khairy jamaluddin aka KJ (Carlos Vela), and not to forget kieran gibbs who made his debut outside the carling cup competition, and makes we forget about gael clichy  at least for last night. The only concern for me is Nicklas Bendtner, although he scored but he never really shows that he is a ‘top’ striker, which he famously claimed a day before, in the build-up to this match.

The Scums 0 – 0 Arsenal

Boo Eboue! Again!

Another frustrating Arsenal performance by the whole team, especially Emmanuel Eboue. I couldn’t say in words of how frustrated i am, i’m sure the fans in London felt more pain cause it’s happening in front of their eye.

Another 2 points lost, another step forward to Europa League (The renamed UEFA Cup Competition). Could it be that Wenger wants to write the history book by winning it for the first time? Hell yeah if we win it, we will be a laughing stock if we don’t. That said, it is still the second standard competition whatever you want to call it. No real pleasure of being in it either.

Sad Eboue after red carded

On Eboue, i think he is overexcited since it is a derby match, but he didn’t need to since tottenham hotspur (the scums) is a total disgrace on the pitch, no real game plan, no sparks, no fluent passing, no dangerous attacking whatsoever. But Arsenal did not play any better either, coupled with overexcited eboue, we got the red card. 10 men down, and the scums still being the scums did not pose any real danger.

Yet again, wenger did not have any idea on what to do, or how to change the game.
