Today marks the observation of the new moon of ramadan. By right, as far as i know, if they see the “moon” we will fast tomorrow but by calculation of the moon positions and et cetera, it is almost certain that the fasting month should start on saturday.
Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims, where we are obliged to fast from sunrise till sunset, or more precisely, from subuh time till magrib time.
But really, for me Ramadan is a special month indeed, and i love every single time when the ramadan is coming. It is a special time. you can say it is the same thing, but for me, every ramadan has a different something in it, but every ramadan is indeed is very special, different from year to year.
It is not just the fasting, it is the time when everyone will be closer, the bond will be tighter, the peacefulness during the fasting, the joy during breaking the fast, the self-realization about ownself, the time to forgive, the time to give, and there’s a whole lot of meaning to it, and it brings different meaning to different people.
I did asked a non-muslim friend about the upcoming ramadan, and he said, “I can’t wait for Ramadan to come”. I was a bit suprised by him saying that, since he is a Christian u see. I probe further on asking why do you think so?
“The Pasar Malam is just simply fantastic & unique. I went to the pasar malam almost every single day last year during the fasting month!”
I was, Wow! Then i got curious, i start asking other non-muslim friends the same questions. To my suprise, most of them enjoy the pasar malam which is held like crazy here down in Melaka.
A few years ago, one Indian friend told me, that every year during the fasting month, she will try to puasa as much as possible, and i always supported her, and told her in the class, “Come on! You can do it!”, although i know she’s look like half dead after the class finished in the afternoon in most of the days that she tried to fast.
That’s quite a wonder that people from other religions is really tolerating Islam and understands about us. It’s a no brainer really since we are a Muslim country anyway.
I do not comprehend why the US media is hating us so much, with all the propaganda and such, but i believe it will pass away. And i do know some of the non-muslim friends who are really being ignorant about islam despite living here in Malaysia, but i do not want to say anything, as this country also i believe is a free country.
As long as no one compromising each other life, i’m totally okay with it.
So, really, i wanted to get to the point, Ramadan is a special month, has different meaning for different people, even for the non-muslims!
So my friends, Selamat Berpuasa & Menikmati Keindahan Bulan Ramadan!
