The Last Lecture

with 3 comments

In the midst of study break, where i should be studying by each minutes, i’m adamant to set aside my time for tonight’s event, for which this event is one of the most important one during my time here.

Dr. Ahmad Sayeed, our beloved lecturer, teacher, muazzin, imam will be leaving us in a few days time.

Tonight’s event is organized by the usual people, rahim and the others, to bid a proper farewell to our beloved Dr. Ahmad Sayeed.

When i arrived here in Melaka campus of our college, i didn’t immediately get to know him instead, i know him little by little and as time goes on, knows about him a little bit more.

He is a prime example of a true, and the real Muslim should be. He epitomises all the values, intrinsic and extrinsic of an ideal & decent Muslim.

In his last lecture, which he was invited to do tonight in the surau, it summarizes to a very important thing, the one that he tries convey every single day whenever he met any of us: strive for excellence for the afterlife, as well as excellence in this world

He started by advocating that every Muslims should always came back to the foundation of what Islam really is: The admission of there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.

In doing so, we should adhere to the basic tenet which is basically as simple as Doing what is asked of you, and Avoid all of the impermissible.

He also emphasizes on the importance of quality of Shalat Prayer in everyday life. It should be with presence of mind and the heart.

One of the thing that he really stressed upon is the preparation for the afterlife, which is very important, but he also reminded that our success in the world is also important.

Other thing that really impressed us is the way he conveys the current situation of parents being ill treated by their children, and the sheer importance of taking care of our parents, as they have took care of us when we were young, when we have grown up, it is our turn to take care of them.

Dr. Ahmad Sayeed, apart from being a really good lecturer, teaching in a very simplified, purposeful manner, he also is a very decent & pious man, while being a person that you enjoy speaking with, with an ability to crack jokes at times, and almost every day without failed, calls for prayer every late afternoon during asar times with his unique tone and pronounciation of the azan.

With full of his heart, he conveys the last message and advice to us: Strive for excellence in preparation for the afterlife, and equally important is to strive for excellence in this world, by being the best doctor we can be, and Specialize (in medical world) to the best of our ability.

In short, Be excellent in all aspects of our life

Yeah, that’s right; let’s strive for excellence, as we have been lagging behind all these years in most of our aspects of life.

Thank you Dr. Ahmad Sayeed for all your advises, your guidance and we hope all the best for your future endeavour! May Allah bless you in everything that you do.

And above all, the one thing i will always remember and cherish is his Azan in Asar time, classic & unique, and for that Thank you sir!
